Setting up time slots and capacity

Build your day programme with slot patterns, capacity limits and exceptions for holidays and bad weather.

4 min read

Time slots are the heart of Ticketjoy: every ticket, every scan and every OTA connection reads the same live capacity.

Create a slot pattern

  1. 1Open Planning → Slot patterns and click New pattern.
  2. 2Choose the days of the week, opening and closing time, and the interval (e.g. every 15 minutes).
  3. 3Set the capacity per slot. This is the maximum number of people, not the number of orders.
  4. 4Link the items that may be sold in this pattern and publish.

Exceptions

  • Closure days: mark a date as closed — all slots disappear from checkout and from connected OTAs immediately.
  • Different hours: override a single day without touching your pattern.
  • Capacity adjustment: raise or lower the capacity of one slot, for example for a group booking or a thin staff day.
Capacity changes only apply to unsold places. Existing tickets always stay valid.

Avoiding overbooking

Ticketjoy holds capacity the moment a visitor starts checkout and releases it after a timeout. If you also sell at the desk, keep a small walk-up allocation aside so you never have to turn away someone standing in front of you.
